Winds of change are swirling within the Liberal Party of Canada as a couple of high-profile candidates have stepped forward to run to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney and former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland have officially announced their campaigns.
Giving his thoughts on the situation, Conservative MP for Northumberland-Peterborough South Philip Lawrence says neither of those people provide real change.
Lawrence says in his opinion the options will leave Canadians with more of the same.
A successor to Trudeau will be selected on March 9 and Lawrence says this is really all a distraction from the difficulties Canadians are facing.
While those are the highest profile candidates so far, more names are expected to enter the race in the coming days.
