Another blast of winter is on its way to Northumberland Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025.
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for the Northumberland and Quinte regions tonight, calling for snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres.
Officials are warning of reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow, and difficulties travelling due to accumulating snow.
“Snow associated with a fast-moving, low-pressure system will begin early this evening,” reads Environment Canada’s advisory. “The heaviest snowfall is expected late this evening through tonight.”
The snow is then anticipated to taper off to flurries Sunday morning.
Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly, said Environment Canada.
Northumberland County officials are also encouraging residents to plan for extended travel time during the snow accumulation, as well as possible reduced visibility, slippery roads and snow drifts.
Officials continue to urge motorists to slow down and drive to weather conditions when behind the wheel.
