The Cobourg Public Library is gearing up for a super March Break, packed with exciting activities for kids and families. From superheroes to super skills, the library is more than just books-it’s a hub for adventure, discovery and hands-on fun.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy themed events celebrating super humans, super men, super women, and super kids, with interactive storytelling, creative crafts, and engaging challenges. But the fun doesn’t stop there-the library offers so much more beyond the shelves. Borrow an Ontario Provincial Parks Pass Kit for a day of outdoor adventure, check out a telescope to explore the night sky, or dive into a kilogram of Lego and let your creativity shine.
This year, March Break at the library runs from Friday March 7 to Sunday March 16.
With many families looking for things to do closer to home this year, the library’s Rachel Spence tells us there’s no lack of fun things to do at your local library.
Spence tells us some of her top choices do involve registration, so be sure to mark 10 am on March 1st on your calendar to sign up.
The theme throughout the week will be super – as staff at the library will be working to ensure everyone have a super March break.
According to Spence events will include a superhero scavenger hunt at all library locations that will run throughout the week. Your mission will be to locate all the hidden superheroes in the library and if you find them all, you will be rewarded.
To start things off, on March 7 teens are invited to learn how to make their own comic book from a single piece of paper. Budding artists will learn how to plan, write and draw an 8-page comic with the help of an instructor.
Another cool event will take place on March 13th that will let participants get up close and personal with some exotic creatures from across the globe.
Registration is required for the Hands-on Exotics event – it begins at 2 pm.
One of the days Spence is most looking forward to is dedicated to teens and will explore the wide variety of tastes and textures of one of Canada’s favourite snacks.
In keeping with the super theme, a drop-in event will take over the library on Monday March 10th.
Spence invites everyone to come out, build Lego, hang-out with friends and enjoy a day of creativity that’s limited only by your imagination. All you need is your library card – and if you don’t have one, be sure to get yours soon and begin to find out about all the great experiences it can unlock for you.
No matter what kind of super you want to be, the Cobourg Public Library is the place to power up your imagination this March Break.
