On March 4, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Northumberland OPP responded to a report of a threat made to a pedestrian in Colborne, Township of Cramahe.
According to police, the complainant stated they were walking to their residence when an unknown individual approached and issued a threat. Concerned for their safety, the caller immediately contacted authorities, prompting an investigation into the incident.
Following a thorough investigation, officers identified and apprehended a suspect. On March 3, 2025, a 19-year-old resident of the Township of Cramahe was charged with uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, a serious offence under the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
Northumberland OPP have reiterated their commitment to public safety, emphasising the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of any suspicious or threatening behaviour. “Our officers are dedicated to delivering proactive and innovative policing in partnership with our communities,” a spokesperson said. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.
Residents are reminded to exercise caution when approached by strangers and to report any instances of threatening behaviour.
