Northumberland OPP charged a Hastings man on March 6, 2025, for driving while prohibited after a traffic stop on Concession Road 13. Around 3:20 p.m., an officer conducting speed enforcement observed a pickup truck travelling at 87 km/h in a posted 50 km/h speed zone. The officer’s in-car Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them that the driver was prohibited from driving.
Upon speaking with the 63-year-old motorist, police confirmed that he was indeed prohibited from operating a vehicle. In addition to the prohibited driving charge, he was also charged with speeding and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The man’s vehicle was impounded for 180 days, as per the OPP’s policy for driving while prohibited.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a later date.
