The annual Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny race is returning to Port Hope on April 12, 2025, and organizers are encouraging participants to register now.
The popular 10-kilometre river race offers three categories this year: canoes and kayaks, the lively Crazy Crafts, and a new inflatable category designed for first-time racers or younger participants.
“This cherished event is a defining tradition in Port Hope,” said Mayor Olena Hankivsky, adding that safety remains a top priority. Emergency services, staff, and volunteers will be stationed along the route to ensure a safe and smooth event.
Participants will race down the Ganaraska River, finishing at the riverside village known as “Fannyville,” where visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, and family-friendly activities.
Event Co-Chairs Barry Adamson and Barrileigh Price say they’re excited to welcome participants back for a full lineup of events after last year’s hiatus for the Crazy Craft category.
“We’re calling on the public to get their vessels and costumes ready,” said Price.
Registration is now open at Float Your Fanny.
Participants are reminded to review safety guidelines and prepare for fast, chilly river conditions.
In case of unsafe conditions, the event may be postponed to April 19, 2025.
