
Two Quinte West residents are facing drug-related charges after allegedly trying to evade a RIDE check, say Prince Edward County OPP.
According to OPP, officers were conducting a RIDE check on Hwy. 62 at County Road 3 at about 1 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025. Officers reported observing a vehicle attempt to avoid the check, said police.
However, two individuals were subsequently arrested, and officers allege they seized suspected cocaine and other items typically associated with drug use and trafficking, in addition to $1,600.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 20-year-old Trenton resident was charged with possession of a schedule I substance, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and driving with cannabis readily available.
A 23-year-old Quinte West resident was also charged with possession of a schedule I substance, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, reported OPP.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Both of the accused were released from custody and will appear in court on April 2, 2025, said police.
