Damage from this weekend’s ice storm has forced temporary closures of all Quinte Conservation’s areas.
“The ice storm that moved through the Quinte Region over the weekend has caused damage to many of Quinte Conservation’s trails, forcing a temporary closure of each conservation area,” reads a recent notice from the conservation authority.
The authority says field operations staff are working diligently to clear hazardous trees but note this will take time, with more than 75 kilometres worth of trails throughout its 13 conservation areas.
“Due to trail conditions, all of Quinte Conservation’s areas are closed temporarily,” say staff, who are asking the public to respect closures, including for safety reasons.
Staff will also be using heavy equipment at times to tackle downed trees and other debris, note officials.
The authority says a notice will be posted online once areas reopen for public use.
