Five Counties Children’s Centre will again be the local children’s charity supported by McDonald’s® restaurants in Cobourg and Port Hope during this year’s McHappy Day® on Thursday, May 8.
For the second consecutive year, Five Counties has been selected as the local charity partner for McHappy Day, an annual fundraiser helping children’s charities across Canada. Diners who eat in, drive-thru or take out at the Cobourg and Port Hope McDonald’s locations will help raise money to support children and youth with therapy needs in Northumberland County.
Five Counties CEO Scott Pepin tells us how you can help.
Pepin tells us last year guest support was outstanding.
In 2024, a record $30,000 was raised locally on McHappy Day, with approximately $22,500 directed to Five Counties Children’s Centre.
The remaining $7,500 went to Ronald McDonald House Charities®, which supports families with children undergoing hospital treatment.
“We are thrilled to again have Five Counties Children’s Centre as our designated charity for 2025,” says Lisa Wilson, owner and operator of the Cobourg and Port Hope McDonald’s locations. Wilson’s restaurants have raised more than $175,000 for local children’s causes since 2014.
Five Counties CEO Scott Pepin says the organization is honoured to once again benefit from McHappy Day. “Lisa and her team were fantastic hosts in 2024, and we’re excited to partner with them again this year,” Pepin says. “We encourage everyone to come out on May 8 and support the children and families in our community.”
Pepin tells us he hopes to see you there.
Five Counties, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, served nearly 1,600 children and youth across Northumberland County last year. Services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy.
Last year, McHappy Day events across Canada raised a record-breaking $8.9 million nationally.
